This is level 3 training and will count towards the participatory learning requirements as stipulated by the Intercollegiate Document – Safeguarding Children: Roles and Competencies for HealthCare Staff.
By going through some common scenarios that crop up in General Practice, I hope to illustrate:
Some of the basic principles that underpin safeguarding children
When to make a referral by understanding Children’s Social Services threshold models and the use of Early Help
How to make a good referral so that it doesn’t get rejected
How we can work with our safeguarding partners to share the load and the risk
Some practical steps we can take to improve our safeguarding processes within our Practices
